Pandoro: Pandoro means "golden bread" and this beautiful and majestic cake-like bread is star-shaped with a golden interior. When cut horizontally each slice is a star. Made from noble ingredients and in respect of tradition this dessert bread has the rich delicate flavor and fine texture from another time. Rich in eggs and butter it is the perfect partner for all varieties of sweet additions; creams, custards, melted chocolate, marmalade or simply served with sweet sparkling wine. A cake that is intended for the most beautiful feast of the year. Covered in its powder sugar icing this cake like bread speaks of snow capped mountains and Christmas trees. A delicious and romantic cake that originated in the city of Verona. It is not hard to imagine Romeo and Juliet sharing a piece of this delicious and elegant dessert!
Panforte Margherita: This dense almond-studded, sugar-dusted cake is embedded with the highest quality candied orange peel, honey, spices, and just enough flour to hold it all together, with a thin wafer bottom. Quite possibly the mother of all fruit cakes; Panforte traces its birth to the beautiful Tuscan city of Siena in the 12 century, and was a staple for the Crusaders. The modern Panforte Margherita was reformulated and named in honor of the first queen of Italy; Margherita di Savoia. It is classically served sliced in thin wedges with a dessert wine or coffee. Modern enthusiasts have parred it with a cheese course as well.
