For our family, this ring-shaped, anise-seed, scented cake was an indispensable part of our Easter lunch. Wine, egg, sugar, butter and wheat flour are joined in perfect harmony to develop this soft bread like cake. Lightly flavored with whole anise seed, it is a wonderful accompaniment with Easter frittata and savory meats. Cut in thick slices, laden with butter or marmalade, this is one of the Di Camillo families rites of spring. Two 12 oz. ring loaves are individually wrapped to ensure freshness.
